  • Sawfly???...in October??????

Never had it in my garden before- so can you imagine my shock when I went to weed the gooseberry bed to spot gooseberry sawfly caterpillers munching their way through my plants!

    In October??????

Anyone else getting pests like this so late in the season???

Yes, my redcurrants and gooseberries are leafless, I presume sawfly larvae.

Also my sweetcorn have been ravaged by badgers.

      ouch.....

The local hunters here have been on the lookout today for badgers and wild boar which are also partial to sweetcorn- one part of the field of maize next to our house has been almost cleared by the culprits.
