Just been clearing up for winter and in the base of other herbaceous perinneals I have found loads of adult Lily beetles. Has anyone any suggestions as to how I can get rid of them before next year.
Thanks

I've done the squashing bit and cleared off all the grubs but now I want to get rid of the over wintering ones I missed earlier. Thanks for the suggestions.
Scientific daughter suggested that a tea made from the chrysanthemum family of plants watered on to the soil might get rid of them or at least reduce their number. What do you all think?

Scientific daughter may be right - making up a home made spray of pyrethrum.
However the beetles do not necessarily overwinter on the lilies - they may go somewhere else entirely. So get ready to pick them off when they emerge to breed in the spring, when the lilies are sending nice tasty shoots up. As soon as you tap the plant they drop to the ground - so grab something for them to drop into and squish them underfoot as advised by two-sheds!
