  • RIP Mr Mole or Good Riddance.

Well, today one of the cats is owed a tin of Whiskers (other expensive cat food is available) as the mole in the veg garden has been caught.

Most of my brassicas are horizontal as a result of tunnelling causing the ground to collapse, but I am sad too as they are such endearing creatures. Plus, this is prime worm territory so the battle is probably already on for the vacant plot.

    A temporary truce, no doubt.

Surround your plot with daffodil bulbs before another mole moves in, they are supposed to deter them. Alliums of all kinds are supposed to as well, so a border of garlic may discourage them too.

    Endless wonder.

The daffodils in our garden were destroyed by moles, only thing that rid them was the gas down the run

            Well done that cat.
Our cat Hibou has presented a couple to us over the last year. It must take a lot of patience waiting and waiting

Think I'll just pop out and fork over the beds with tunnels but without plants to make life tougher fo the next resident.

Given that the surrounding land is forest, orchard or very poor pasture and I already have a queueing system with moles in my orchard and grassed areas, I'd give it about 24 hours before the next one arrives.

Killing them is probably a waste of time...
