Weed Burners

Does anyone here have experience using weed burners? I am thinking of getting one as my house has a large gravel driveway and several concrete paths where weeds are just taking over!

I don't use chemicals in my gardening so weed killers are not an option, but I have heard good things about these and the cost seems quite reasonable considering what it does.

I have found they are o/k for individual weeds but not so clever when its a clump of weeds.

My Dad has one, and my Mum won't let him use it!

I think that probably says more about my Dad than the weed burner, though!

Personally, a good rake/hoe will keep the gravel clear, and for paving, I'd sprinkle good old cheap household salt on the weeds. But, if you want a burner, then you go ahead!

Do you know someone who has one you could have a go with? Or is it the sort of thing you could hire for a day?
