Hello
I've just met a wonderful caterpillar:
Vapourer Moth (Orgyia antiqua)
http://www.bioimages.org.uk/html/P6/P66562.php
I've never seen one before, its very exotic looking but alas is quite common.
It was munching on a young Cornus shrub– which would be about normal.
I then found a report from Scotland that there have been small "outbreaks" of these babies that have effectively stripped Sitka Spruce plantations (Forestry/Oxford Journals)
Should I or we be worried here in SE London?
J
