  • blackcurrant bushes aphids

A few weeks ago we noticed our blackcurrant bushes leaves were starting to curl up, now they are looking really sorry for themselves with loads of curled up leaves. Close inspection has revealed that there are loads of little green insects all over them which I'm pretty sure are aphids.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of them without resorting to chemicals?

finger & thumb is the most satisfying if a little messy. Otherwise some soapy water will work - I prefer to squish them

      Thanks for answering.

I sprayed the bushes with soapy water - still loads on there though so looks like I'm going to give it another go and have a go at squishing.

I'd suggest nipping off the worst ones and burning them. So long as you don't do too many per plant, they should be OK.
Once they curl up, they are really difficult to spray ( I imagine you've already found that out though!)
