  • Chilli plant leaves curling upwards, weird fungus like white stuff on underside

As you can see the leaves have curled upwards and are almost deformed like, also there is this white hairy fungus like stuff on the bottom of the leaves running along the veins. I was giving them half strength nutrients once a week but have stopped doing this now, last feed was 2-3 weeks ago. They were in full sun all day long as well but i have now moved them to a position where they get just a few hours of morning sun.
Please if anyone has any ideas as to what it might be feel free to offer your opinion.
    THANK YOU

They were very healthy to begin with, but if youlook carefully you will see the leaves are badly curled up hooked almost and the growth has almost stopped. These are very treasured plants hence i am very upset i do not know why the last 6-8 leaves have all grown all curled and become like this.

They look normal to me, tomato plants also have young leaves that curl and they are healthy....What varieties are you growing?

Chilli plants don't need feeding until their first flowers show. It puts on fast sappy growth that are prone to aphids.

                Where are you growing them?

I am not sure you guys are able to see the deformed curled leaves, it certainly cannot be normal. Also i was scraping off the white fungus like hair from the bottom of the leaves when i saw quite a few tiny tiny little white bugs run out of the white fungus like thing when i started scraping. I am pretty sure now it is these bugs that have caused my lovely treasured healthy plants to become sick and stop growing and curled their leaves. Please if anyone knows what these little bugs are and how i can kill them please let me know, the leaves are getting worse and it is now spreading to the older healthy big leaves lower down the plant.
There are two plants suffering from this problem, both of them are Trinidad Scorpion Butch T, Last year i grew them the leaves were all flat and crinkly but not curled at all. I have a funny feeling its those bugs doing something to the leaves which is causing them to deform and curl, the new growth has been destroyed totally the tiny leaves have curled up into a scrunched up ball. By God i hate bugs

Are they white? Do they fly?
                    Thrips maybe...
If I see any kind of aphid I spray them with a very weak solution of soap and water. Washing up liquid will do but make sure it's very weak.

I am really confused because they are white in colour, tiny little specks like a grain of sand size, almost microscopic. But they do not fly as far as i can see, also they seem to shelter inside the white hairy wool like thing that's growing on the veins of the underside of the leaves. I will spray with a bug killer spray and hope for the best. Thanks to everyone for advice

Maybe you have spider mites, spray with water, they don't like high humidity

I think probably mealy bugs but they are usually found in house plants or the GH and the plants have been outside...

                            Maybe mealy bugs

To be honest these plants have mainly been indoor plants with high humidity like greenhouses so maybe mealy bugs, i got fed up of stressing about them and cut off all the curled up leaves. Will now keep a close eye on them. I also have 2 chilli plants in homemade hydroponic DWC systems, they also suffered some major damage of some kind, but they seem to be growing, i am guessing the all the huge leaves that have been damaged will eventually fall off. I am hoping by then the plant will have produced plenty more foliage. The 2 large plants seen in the group shot are now suffering from burnt leaves seen on the other pics.

I think you've been feeding too much. Excess nutrients burn the leaves. Chillies shouldn't need feeding until the flowers show. Reduce feeding and Fingers crossed you'll see an improvement.
