My new spuds have white spots on.

Hi,
Have just been down the plot to have a quick poke about at the new potatoes when I have quite a few with little white spots on. If you scrape the skin with your nail then they come off.
So does this mean I have a major problem or are they safe to eat?
Am I going to have to dig the whole lot up or can I leave them?
The ground they are in is a bit heavy but not clay.

I dug some yestrday and they had tiny white spots - this morning they've dried off and the spots have disappeared
