Can you sling them more than 20metres though, Mumbles?

This is not something I tell everyone, but I picked up the snail I found on the doorstep early Tuesday morning as I went to work, sat it on my library book (plastic cover, see) and drove it 2 miles out of the village before letting it out on the verge. I've been removing a snail off my doorstep about every other day for a week or two but I only drove it a few hundred yards away and 2 days later there was a snail on the doorstep again. So now I've started with the full 2 miles, 'cos I'm not entirely sure it was a different snail each time. I suspect it just took 2 days to walk home.

We'll see how long it takes to do the full 2 miles

Try dribbling some salt onto a slug, most satisfying. But don't do it too often, or you will have salty soil.

I would not handle them with bare hands, they can carry some very nasty diseases.

No. I'm lucky if I even get it over the fence using my chopstick twig method 😕

Crikey I hope not I don't fancy the idea of being stalked by a snail!

Well I hate to say this but it obviously YOU that is attracting him, why else would he be on the doorstep when he could be munching veg? You have an obsessed slug and apart from giving into his lustful ways the only solution is aversion therapy, show him a picture of you and then give him a mild electric shock, show him a picture of the next door neighbour and give him a lettuce leaf. It could take some time.

ps, has he ever "rung the bell"?

No Bill, he just loiters on the doorstep, trying to pretend he was just passing.

                        He's back!!

So I've marked his card (and his shell) and once more transported him up the road. If he comes back again he'll feel the full weight of my size sevens.

One of my customers is battling a slug and snail issue in part of their ornamental garden. They have a large bucket of salty water, and they bung 'em all in there. He fills a whole bucket each week!

This could actually be a new variety, "The Homing Snail" It could be the start of a whole new racing industry.
