  • cabbage white caterpillars D:

    Hi all

Ive been growing brussels this year for the first time and have been foolishly oblivious to these pests.

Today I went out to water the brussels and there are HUNDREDS of quite large cabbage white caterpillars annihilating all the leaves!

There are way too many to try and pick off, is there anything I can do or are they all doomed?

    Thanks!

Just get in there and pick them all off and kill them. If you come across any yellow/orange eggs on the underside of the leaves squash them too.

Then get some netting and cover your brassicas well.

Do it all again tomorrow as you are bound to miss loads, but eventually you will get on top, and the plants will recover.

Once you've picked of the caterpillars and eggs keep checking like Andy says because it can take up to two weeks for the eggs to turn into caterpillars. good luck.
      Location....East Midlands.
