I have a cat and a kitten, which i love dearly. the kitten is too young to go out. My cat however hates being in when its sunny and when its night, and amazingly he has actually started to figure out how to open one of the windows, so in my opinion it would be wrong for me to keep him in.generally he stays in the garden but he does go out and other cats do come in and yes they do their business where it suits them not me and its not pleasant but there arre worse things. I have sprayed water at them (inc my own cat) but NEVER with any cleaning products! Also my cats are provided with a litter tray. If I could train them to just go there then of course that is what would be done but ive never heard of this! you do need to be a bit fairer.

I have a cat (actually younger son's cat) and he poops in our garden. None of the neighbours grow anything and they don't have flower beds with bare soil between plants so TRex uses his home soil so to speak. He has a litter tray and I am hoping to sort him out a sand box in the garden soon in the hope that he will stop uprooting my new plants. If I spot him on the raised garden he gets a hefty dose of hose water. Works for short times but netting is the best way - also keeps the butterflies off so doing double duty. I have noticed that once the veg plants are established, he doesn't like going in among them - it is just when there is a good patch of nice soft earth between them.
