  • Help with moles, please!

Hi folks. I have had moles on my plot for several years. I've always tolerated them, but this winter the molehills have got bigger and more numerous and spread over a wider area. There are usually six or seven hills to clear up every time I go down (once a week) and there was a really huge one the other day. I think I need to do something to deter them. Are there any humane methods?

Personally I don't mind moles as they eat the slugs & leave you a pile of beautiful soil.

Thanks, folks. I didn't realise that moles ate slugs, BM. That is good news. And thanks for that thread reference, marchogaeth. I will go there now...

I think their main diet is Earthworms but I'm sure they would be partial to a slug or two.

Moles tunnel under new plants, the roots dry out, and the plant dies. I can do without them, my chickens will have to eat the slugs instead
