  • Mangetout Pest Problem

I've grown mangetout successfully before but this year, they have been aggressively nibbled away by ??? at night.

I never thought slugs went for Mangetout (like peas plant) because I never had problem with them before but now I can't think of anything attacking my mangetout than the wretched slugs. However the plants are still continuing to grow despite the nibbling and I continue to use slug pellets. Anybody with similar experience?

It's more likely to be snails - the little bu***rs climb more than slugs do, and they seem to be able to find their way around the pellets. Something's nibbling holes in the leaves of the mangetout i've got in a large pot on the patio, and I don't know what it is - doesn't look like snail or slug damage, nice neat(ish) holes in the leaves and no signs of caterpillars which would have been my next guess. HELP!

        Could it be birds?

My peas at the allotment have been terribly eaten by pigeons (or pheasants, i've not seen the perpetrators at the plants, but have seen them on the site!)

i'd agree about the snails -they seem to get everywhere - i even found one in a hanging basket the other day!
There's vegetable growing in the family, but I must be adopted
