  • Have my toms got potato blight?

Just noticed that some of my tombling tom leaves are going yellow and some are brown and shrivelled.

I've looked at one of the stems and this does have a brown area on it, could this be potato blight?

If it is what can I do? Also is it ok to eat the tomatoes?

Hello and welcome to the vine. Sorry your first post is about something which could be so nasty. There are a few threads about tomato and potato blight - if you click on the 'search' button and then put 'blight' in as the search query, they should all come up for you to look at them. Some have pictures and may help.

Hi & welcome Sue. It may be blight but if it is you'll soon know as the plant will quickly be covered in brown/black blotches but it may just be odd leaves dying due to age, lack of water (not very likely with all the rain if they're outdoors), needing a feed or a dozen other reasons. Even if it is blight you can still eat the toms. if you pick them off & the fruit looks O.K., blight tends to spread to the fruits & make them go brown/black & blotchy & they look so unappetising that you just wouldn't want to eat them anyway! Hope they turn out O.K. for you.
Into every life a little rain must fall.
