Yes Al, they are cheapo BnQ GH's that were being sold off. I just made 2 ft gaps between them to give me more growing stations. The joined them with bits of stuff I had lying around.

It's the heat more than anything that they dislike, also when you plant them firm the base with your heel then firm them again.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

My biggest pest this year is very big - my husky/malamute cross who this year has dug several holes in the lawn, slept many many times on my flower bed, squashing poor little annuals, thinks my beautifully tilled veg patch is for her to roll on & has lately taken to hiding between red & blackcurrant bushes so we can't find her & spend half an hour searching the field next door........
Still love her though - just!!Another happy Nutter...

Snails. Over the years I feel I'm getting on top of the slugs, chopping up the baddies and putting the leopards in the compost bin, but this year the snail population seems to have exploded. usually I pick off one or two a month that I find lurking in dry spots, often under the rim of pots, but this year there are many more.
On the plus side, the blackbird today has busily scraped off all the broken shell on the 9 snails I crushed this morning, and taken them away to feed his babies.
The last time it rained overnight, I went out in the dawn half light, for an early walk, and on my neighbour's small patch of grass I counted 43 big black blobs- snails - all walking my way I step on all the ones on my side, but I didn't feel I could leave my neighbour with 43 crushed bodies all over her grass.Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
Endless wonder.
