  • Nettle stings...aaaahhhhh....

Yup that was me a couple of days ago- and the stinging has finally gone

And so , I thought I'd see if there is any advice/remedies for nasty stings/rash and found this...quite interesting that you can actually help yourself or someone else ( without just laughing and passing them a dock leaf!)

And nope- we never give medical advice on her- but I thought it was interesting enough advice to share!!

How to Treat a Sting from a Stinging Nettle (with Pictures)

Interesting about the duck tape- would never in a month of Sundays thought of that!

Thank you for that Nicos. They do seem to be more vicious these days, probably more to do with my age than anything else
Never heard of it before but, actually, the duct tape idea does make sense to me.

Unfortunately I get lots of nettles. The field next to me is full I often go around pulling them out but the roots are sometimes tangled in amongst other stuff - just never see to get on top of them. I find some sting much more than others and the stinging lasts hours!

I've been clearing my newly taken on plot and as I've been clearing I managed to get one up the sleeve of my jacket along my arm to the elbow, and then another brushed on my nose! Took hours for the irritation to subside!
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

They're so variable, aren't they? I got stung badly all up one arm on Sat - an hour later there was no sign. But that little sting you barely notice can still be with me three days later. From this link, I guess it might be that on Saturday I was too busy to stop and do anything with the stings, so they got left alone.

          Fascinating link!

            duct tape?

For those of us of the hairier persuasion, I think the treatment could be worse than the cure...
(actually, they don't bother me as such, but sometimes I do find I get blisters on scratches obtained when gardening and/or go itchy, so I think there is an immune response overreaction there)

I was thinking the same !

I find a good dose of Anglo Saxon and revenge extract with a hoe the best treatment. The ones around here are vicious and sneaky any exposed ankle or wrist and they'll attack.

My method is to get stung by them so often that you get used to them and learn to ignore them!
