Armillatox: Anyone use this, please?

Years and years and years ago I remember seeing the late, great Bernard Ostler (Weekly columnist on Garden News - anyone remember him?) speaking at Harrogate Show and practically eulogising on Armillatox.

I've never used it, but wondered whether anyone had, and whether anyone might recommend it or a suitable alternative.

Could anyone throw any light on this for us, please?

Update from minutes later: I've just had a sour round the interweb and have seen that Armillatox has now been banned (why didn't I check this first before posting? Doh!), so I was just wondering whether anyone knows of anything similar that might still be legal...

For pest control, really. Not ver organic though, is it? I wouldn't actually have used if it had actually come down to it once I realised what it was...

Still got unopened bottle. It's supposed to kill vine weevil, honey fungus, and moss among other things.
Per their site "Under European legislation the active ingredients of all pesticides have to be reviewed, the cost of raising the data for the review is estimated to be £3 million - to a small company the cost is prohibitive. Therefore as from 25th July 2003, Armillatox has become 'Armillatox Soap Based Outdoor Cleaner' so taking it out of the pesticides regulations - the formulation remains the same. Armillatox is useful as a patio cleaner and for a wide range of other applications, simply phone us for more information on our unique formulation."

From your explanation (and a quick g00gle) it seems that it's not actually been taken off the market, it's just that they can't sell it as a pesticide. It's up to us whether we actually use it as a pesticide. I won't tell if you don't.

I've been looking for some for a while to errmm "clean" my apple trees but the could only find 5ltre containers but they too have now disappeared.

This is the only one I found but it's £77.34 for 5lt! For moss killing on lawns they give dilution of 1lt A'tox to 200lt water so a little goes a long way.
