  • Caterpillars

My nasturtiam (sorry cant spell) has been inundated over night with blue and yellow hairy skinny caterpillars the leaves have been completed chewed.

I have seen them before but cannot remember the name does anyone have any idea what they are. I've looked on the internet but cannot find it.

Tempted to pull up all the plants to prevent spreading
    Please help

A little trip to a country pub for a drink and a relocation of the wildlife???
Not sure what else they eat but I'm sure you could google it?

( any excuse for a drink on this lovely summers evening- it's probably the last one of the year....!)

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Yes I noticed one of my nasturtiums was completely covered with cabbage white caterpillers today, but then it is doing its job. I planted nasturtiums and tagetes all around teh plot this year - and it looks very pretty too. I just pulled the infested leaves off and left the plant to get on with it!

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway.

Hello NSB, a lot of people just grow Nasturtiums as sacrificial plants. The caterpillars and black fly are deposited there and not on other plants. The Nasturtiums can then just be ripped out and the lot got rid of by whatever means. Shame if you really want to keep your nasturtiums. You could pick the critters off by hand if there's anything left. Be sure to keep your seeds for next year.
