    Any idea what this is please? One suddenly appeared at foot of beech tree.

    It's quite attractive.

    However, I'm guessing its a polypore.

    WRONG - its a flower! One of the hawkbits perhaps?

        Just Googled it, agree a hawkbit. It's a mystery as to where it came from. None in adjoining disasters which pass as gardens.

          We've got lots. They're full of bees with filled pollen sacs at the moment. Lovely to see.

          Wikipedia says this:
          "Seeds of Leontodon species are an important food source for certain bird species"
          So maybe the seeds didn't blow in but were eaten by a bird that then sat in the tree and deposited them for you.

            Maybe bird was constipated!
