My second question is: how are your chickens?

We got chickens recently, encouraged by a re-run of The Edible Garden. We named our Syston Black Tip (a red head) Alys in your honour.

Thanks! There used to be an Alys the chicken in Suffolk, but she’s now long gone so I’m glad to hear there’s another. My chickens are fine. Alice B. is very fat and has given up laying all together, saying that she is a very, very happy chook. Gertrude is over worked and slightly highly-strung, but looks wonderful. I am thinking of swopping their names around!
