  • oh gosh, not Alan Titchmarch

I almost rode him over on my bike once (accidently I assure you), years ago, he lives on the Isle of Wight and he was very horrible to me! I was only 14!

Next time I shall get him!

Boycott him Grow Your Own Magazine. Please!

I met him a couple of times, he was very polite to me, I was only 35.

perhaps you were riding too fast up the pavement not looking where you were going?...like most 14 year olds.

Please keep him at GYO. He is a plantsman with tremendous experiance and a easy manner of explaining things. Not very cool and cuttng edge but I want to hear what he has to say.

I love alan titchmarsh. He is fab, he was the person that first got me into gardening. He is a lovely bloke and a great gardener with loads of character- don't diss the titch!!

Not only that he's from Yorkshire! (and rumour has it he comes back to grace us with his presence several times a year!) Wish he was still on GW!

I tried jogging, but I couldn't keep the ice in my glass.

          Save The Titch.

I really miss Alan on gardeners world, he always made thing's look easy, he's got a wicked sense of hummer, and i might add, i used to think him rather dishy, yup, i need to get out more.... sorry. Now i like Jo Swift...... there's really no hope for me.

I always read his back page article first in GW mag.

I have never met him say can't say if he's nice or not, although he does look like he would be nice and patient to your granny while she is waffling on for the umpteenth time about her begonias.

I did have a friend who bumped into Paddy Ashdown once and he let the door shut in my friend's face. That's quite rude!

Maybe it's just me but everything about A T irritates me.

And as for dishy Ginger Ninger - a definite NO

He's a great gardener and good communicator, and if he stayed with growing things I would have no problem with him But watching him present the Proms is utterly cringe-making. I have to rush for the fat controller and mute him!

No, Alice - its not just you !
OH almost cancelled my GYO subscription when he saw That feature. I managed to talk him down, but will have to keep the July mag out of his sight in future... Personally, Im indifferent. He does seem to be a knowledgeable gardener (especially compared to me !) but I dont like the cult of celebrity around him, "Oooh, its Alan..." with ladies of a certain age giggling like schoolgirls when he tips his hat at them. But maybe thats just cos Im a grumpy Yorkshire woman who doesnt like fuss and doesnt want to admit to also being of a certain age ;-)

Yay for the Titchmeister! At least he has a personality to have a cult around!

I like Alan, find his approach very easy and it never used to feel like he was talking down to me when he was on GW.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Personally I didn't like his stint on GW but I think some of that was down to the choices of what they were doing (the bleeding long borders......) rather than his presenting style although I don't find him as warm as Alan. Seems like a decent bloke though.

Everybody has a personality SBP - it's just down to do you like it.

In the case of AT the whole personality just grates on my nerves.

But that doesn't mean other people don't just love him.

It's a good job we're all different - if the whole world was the same as me they would drive me nuts.

                              Mine too.

(somebody reliable once told me that AT is completely bald, and he's worn a wig for years. You won't find anything about it on Google, cos he's [allegedly] paid them not to print anything)
