As someone who's new to gardening I like his 'how to be a gardener series' very helpful for us newbies, bad timing for me as the Gardening UK channel disappeared a couple of months after I started gardening, I could have been watching it for years.

Don't really like Carol Klein though, her squealing at something interesting annoys me for some reason so I fast forward her bits on gardeners world.

The right tools for the job article reads like advertorial, it gives AT every opportunity to push his range of tools.

"would you like to develop a range of children's tools ..."
"Yes. We have launched some ..."

"your bulldog range offers bypass and anvil secteurs"

      etc etc

I love Alan, I love Carol, I love Monty - simply because they love plants and that just clicks for me. Joe Swift is a bit too "woo hoo" about fencing for my taste and Alys is just a bit too on the enid blyton side of mallory towers.....

Would everyone please refer to His Holiness by his correct title - IE "Saint Alan of the Blessed Titchmarsh". Thankyou.

I love his no-faff advise and simple directions for success and the fact that if you follow them they actually work! St Alan - does exactly what it says on the tin!

Aww I like Alan but I suppose I can see why others wouldn't.
I love Carol Klein, bonkers but so enthusiastic, she is great.

Am I the only one waching gardening programmes for the knowledge and not the personalities?

Don't really care who's presenting. There's usually something I can learn, or something of interest, in each programme.

Well personally I really like Alan T (he seems a real gentleman - not many around nowadays) and Carol Klein (I dip into her book "Grow your own veg" all the time) because they are both knowledgeable about gardening. Toby is good too (and cute!). I always watch Jo Swift to see how his allotment is coming along.

But it's all down to personal preference in the end. But I do miss AT on GW.

Alan is the buisness, no question. Great advice from a guy who's been in the business a long time, but is bang up to date. He's rather sexy too. Carol Klein for her fab personality and quirky hairstyles and her no nonsense getting her hands really dirty like me. Chris Beardshaw for his calm unflappable approach.. they are all great anyway. Wouldnt it be boring if we didnt want a bit of fun in our gardening guru's
