The thing that irritates me is that it is published so much in advance. OK it's good to get the April one at the end of Feb as it fills you with enthusiasm and gets you going for the spring, but I hate it as the year goes on, we had the August issue before July had started and it just makes the enjoyable part of the year disappear far too quickly. The next one is going to be extolling the pleasures of autumn before we're into August, that makes me feel miserable, the year has rushed past before I've had time to enjoy it.

I know what you mean Lottieval, that first year I think the first ever issue was March, and my grandson was due in Mid August, which meant I'd be on the September issue before he was born, I quite enjoyed them speeding the year up that time, every one was a step closer to getting my hands on him! But since then it can get confusing. I know why they do it, the mag is on sale in the shops for a month and it would be counterproductive if by the end of that month it was largely out of date. It means you can buy a copy off the shelf, - which is how most people buy it at least initially, - on the 31st and have a full month's use out of it, but trying to juggle what you're supposed to be doing and when you're supposed to be doing it, when you receive your copy earlier than even the official publication date can be difficult.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

        love for the GYO!!!!

        Hi everyone,
Bluemoon, I think your right - what you have said about the adverts and the timing make sense, you need a nice balance of ad's to tickle your fancy and keep the mag on sale (some of them have some great offers if you take the time to browse) and I guess you need to get prepared for the season ahead...........yes fruit does seem to be on the agenda but its good to keep your options open and try some of these new things - I belive it is the season for fruit??????. I do love my veg being a new grower and the advice is brilliant and I really enjoy my copies of GYO.The way I look at it life is about variety and inspiration; if we can pick up a little advice and fun along the way then isnt that what its all about? x

          GYO Very Helpful Mag

          Hi All

I have read all your comments and agree with some of them especially yours bluemoon..... BUT I am a new grower and I never grew anything until recently (the last 2 years). Most of what I grow is fruit as I love it and it costs a small fortune in the shops. SO I am chuffed that I have raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, currant plants and a kiwi fruit bush (which I am still awaiting the fruit but excited in anticipation). I am really pleased that I have had such a lovely mag to guide me along the way. Ads are a necessity as you quite correctly say. You have to have them to help pay for the production of the mag or we would not have a mag at all. Also most of the advertisers are relevant and helpful if you get stuck along the.

Basically I love GYO and am grateful for all the help and advice KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

And if I had a bigger garden I would absolutely LOVE to keep chickens !!!!! Would make me so happy if I could !!!!

          Take Care Busylizzylizzy
