my shallots have shriveled but not much underneath any answers please

As Zaz says, we ned a bit more info before we can offwer you any advice. I have had a poor year for shallots too - they all started growing really well but for some reasom they seemed to stop and although the foliage stayed green, it didn't seem to get bigger or produce more leaves - I think I have lifted all bar about 12 that still seem to be growing. However, a grower no more than 5 miles away is lifting the biggest shallots he has ever grown - and his are still putting on weight.Rat

My shallots haven't split into many this year, some are only doubles but big ones and the garlic has been poor. P'haps it's just a weather thing.S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig

Mine are ace this year - although they did go on the sunny bit of my allotment this year. Still can't figure out how to make a string though - those instructions in this months mag made no senseGill

no idea, I just found that the easiest way. Take from the bottom then, not from the top obviously
It's not 'proper' doing it that way though.
oops, thought you were talking about garlic or shallots. Not sure if it works the same way with onions, my preferred method is tie them to a piece of butchers string....will look for something a min, hang on....
