I really can't see the point. Especially if they can't keep the Vine running properly.

I'm following them, I'll keep an eye out

                        I do like Twitter ....

aside from the fact that it is very good for (certain) businesses (I manage three client accounts on there)

.....I get to talk to Toby Buckland (and have him reply to me direct - whoop, I'm easily pleased!), Matthew Wilson and many other gardeners I admire - oh yes, and Wayne

Just had a quick glance, and I'm afraid I'm with RL, at the moment. But then, I'm still finding 99% of FaceAche to be a total waste of time. I agree it has a place in our world, and is a very useful tool. But, thinking of a particular friend of mine; do people really, honestly, seriously believe that anyone else in the world is bothered what time they go to bed? Honestly? If some people's lives were as exciting as they like us all to think, they wouldn't have the time or inclination to be telling others about it, they'd be busy living it. Twitter appears, at first glance, to be like that.

                          Or maybe it's just me.

I don't do Twitter at all and when I've had a quick look at it a couple of times in the past I've found it to be mainly inane and poorly written (probably due to the restriction in word numbers as much as anything) dross but I'm guessing if you're interested enough you'll wade through the fluff and rubbish to find what you want. Personally I'm not interested enough so won't bother but that's fine. What does annoy me however though is when some parts of the media assume that we all want to receive our info in a particular way and shut off the old tried and tested ways. I've moaned about those annoying scan things on loads of programmes and another one that irks is the constant use of video news on web sites rather than a written article. I prefer to read stuff and often update at lunchtime at work - can't listen to audio at work in an open plan office without either annoying or having to suffer ear phones (something which always causes pain in my ears for some reason). All for increasing options (as this appears to be, thankfully) but don't shut down things that people use and like.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I've heard you say this before and it's always confused me as I can't see how it would help - obviously does or you wouldn't do it but how does it work? Maybe I'm just in a different line of work but really stuggling with this and quite nosey

I believe you are an engineer aren't you? If yes, then certanly a different line of work

I have three clients that are in various arms of head-hunter/recruiter type businesses, we (I) post jobs on offer and often get some excellent candidates coming back to me for more information.

One such example, we recently successfully placed a candidate in a £250K role, our (my clients, not mine!) invoice for that was £25k - therefore Twitter (which is currently still free to use) made us a lot of dosh.

My own account shows my profile as 'Gardener for my soul - Freelance Admin/Business support for my bread, butter and beer' - so my own account is more for pleasure (chatting to gardeners and such) but I have picked up a client through it.

Another example is a pal who runs a Vintage caravan business, she rents these out at Festivals and Hen nights and such, she Tweets bits and bobs about what's happening - we all pick it up and retweet it and she gets more bookings - bonus - yet more free advertising
