Instead of buying those cane supports could they be made from a piece of wood with a hole drilled in it. I actually think the cane would be better offcentre to give room for the plant to go in alongside the cane.

I'm worried about what mould and fungus would grow on bits of wood in damp warm compost. Don't want any nasties harming my babies (or as you know them chillies

).
Most pots would need 3 or 4 supports so they would be positioned more around the edges of larger pots.

I haven�t used this kit but I was tempted by it,my friend got my new light from a hydroponics shop,he said it was about �40. It�s this one but he bought it in London,I don�t know if this is a good online shop but it�s just so you can look at details of wattage etc & compare.

Are you keen on growing in water & adding fertilisers,growing hydroponically or would you prefer growing in compost?

Make a ring of plastic pipe (like the blue stuff) to fit inside the pot and make holes in it wherever you like for canes?

Been looking at "Wilko's" and they do an array of plant supports!

I'd be keen to invest in these plastic coated canes which you could adapt to suit your need, and would last years too!

Why make a silly thing complicated!

If you stick em in where needed, Bob's your uncle! or in your case your husband!

I must be a bit slow here... Can't see why you would use the cane clamp.

Why lift the pot by cane?

More a gimmick than practical tool?

To stop damage to roots, why not plant blue pipe down side of pot to stick cane in.
Could double as a water spout to the roots.
