The important thing to consider is the lense....if you have a short projection distance the image will be small, what will you be projecting rary?

What is the projector to be used for - Powerpoint Presentations or Full HD movies? Are you looking to use it in a small area or a large room? What is the light levels in the projection area like, e.g. in a dark room with blackout curtains or outside on a summer evening?

Thanks for the questions, and the apology bramble, the projector will be used for power point presentations and showing photographs in a small hall, I am looking for something that gives good colour reproduction, as the projector I have at present doesn't give the same clarity of colour that I get on the computer screen, it would appear to be getting duller, but I have had it for fifteen years and it is used quite a lot throughout the year, I can't get a replacement bulb, as they are no longer in stock, also it needs to be portable. Thanks

Remember the inverse square law applied to projectors. This means that if you increase the distance from the source the brightness drops by the square of the increase.

              e.g.
at 2m the image will be a quarter of the brightness that it would be at 1m
at 3m it will be one ninth
at 4m in will be one 15th
at 5m it will be one 25th the brightness it was at 1m

As the brightness diminished colour fidelity diminishes.

You might need to use a colour calibration tool on the projector as different displays will show colour differently.

Thanks Jay-ell so if I am working that out properly what Greenleaves says about lumens is important is there anything else I should consider?
