  • Marmite Wine???

I'm in competition with my fellow wine makers to come up with the most bizarre - but drinkable wine.

After racking my brains, the only strange but potentially workable wine I can think of is Marmite.

Has anyone got any experience or making Marmite wine or any other bizarre tasty wine???

    Any advice would be great!

      Hmmm...not being a wine maker for urmmmm....yikes 35 yrs!!!!

      first thoughts are that....
      Marmite is salty
      lots of salt kills yeast
      ergo...

won't ferment unless in very low quantities????

I know it can be used in small amounts- but not as a majority ingredient because of it's salt content !

I followed the method for quick nice wine on here intended to use rhubarb only i used crushed fennel stalks instead.....eeerm I was thinking Ouzo style. Currently it tastes more like mouthwash but it all depends on your definition of palatable. Was going to do mint next.

I like the sound of this...However would it provide enough taste? I like a full flavour...Maybe Mint may be worth a try!

Let's just leave Marmite where it belongs...on hot buttered toast. Well a few other places too...but then each to their own

odd, but drinkable..... I'd go for a herbal recipe. At present there is a weird (well I think it's weird) infusion sold under the name Morocco (by Liptons). It's a combination of spices and mint. There is a recipe somewhere on here for making wine from fruit-tea, you use a whole box of teabags (most varieties come in 20s or 25s) and this might be worth thinking about.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
