  • Ildi toms

My first time of growing these and I'm amazed at how fast they grow side shoots, never had this happen before with any variety. It seems within 24 hours they can be 3-4 inches long. Is it normal or have I got a few rogue seeds?

I'm growing them and they are very sideshooty... even at under 2' tall they've had loads.

I've seen reference to them being both determinate and indeterminate so as I've got few plants maybe I'll let some keep the side shoots and some I'll remove them and see how they develop.

I have grown Ildi toms for a few years always as cordons. They produce such a mass of flower and small fruit I can't begin to imagine how awkward providing support for mature bush grown plants would be. When grown in a greenhouse they can produce in excess of 100 fruits per truss.
