Hello Simon, yes you have got the spelling right. These cucumbers are not widely available but I believe seed can be obtained from the Heritage Seed Library. I've put a link on for you if you want to look into that. Heritage Seed Library

I have no idea. It was just mentioned as the best in a very old gardening book (1950s) and there is nothing on the internet. It is supposed to be light green, thin-skinned and great tasting.
And poorly cropping Simon, and seed is very scarce. There is a little about it on the internet if you google for it, mostly from other gardening sites. I suspect it is a curiosity rather than a great cucumber. One for officianados with time and money to spare.

I've got 2 lovely sigmadew's growing from HSL seed - I googled it and this page came up...haven't harvested any but they are long and pale green.......they certainly look interesting and I'll update when i taste them.
I grew these over 30 years ago. If memory serves me well, there were only a couple of seeds in the packet. Cropped very lghtly. Had a pale yellow tinge to the skin, harking back to its mellon roots. Tasted fabulous. Well worth growing. Would love to find some seeds or young plants again.
