Beans are a fantastic crop to grow and whether you’re a beginner gardener with just a small growing space or a well seasoned pro with a huge allotment, there’s a bean variety suitable for you. Most beans can be sown at any point between April and July and they can either be started off indoors, under cover, or straight outside. They prefer to grow in moist, fertile soil in a sunny, sheltered spot and you will need to give them plenty of water throughout their development. Here, Neil Howick from Simply Seed picks his favourite five varieties to try this year. For more information about Simply Seed and to see the company’s huge range of seed click here.
