Damson query

Planted a Damson tree a couple of years ago (they grow wild where my mum lives and we dug one up and planted it here. Did the same very successfully when we lived in another house) On visiting mum this weekend in Leicester I found the damsons in full flower, mine is only just putting on leaves, is this because we are further east (Lincs). I am starting to feel we may have dug up the wrong sapling

Mine's in full flower - and if I were much further east I'd be in the sea! I don't really think one should be digging up things from the wild. I wouldn't anyway. They are easy to get hold of in nurseries. Shropshire Prune is the one I've got and Merryweather is another good old variety.

My wild damsons are only just beginning to show flower, down here in Kent.

Didn't make myself clear, it was growing wild at the bottom of mums garden. A rather overgrown area that next doors Merryweather has been dropping its fruit into and they have lots of little saplings. The only problem is there are other trees too.

Great - Merryweather is a cracker - but it sounds like you might have transplanted something else? What else is growing nearby?
