  • Ivy leaves

A tree in my garden was choked with large amounts of ivy all the way up, and to get more light under the tree I cut round all the ivy stems at the bottom of the trunk. Now there are lots of ivy leaves, still green, falling off. They seem a bit hard and waxy to compost well, but I'm hoping there is something useful I can do with them, any ideas?

Ivy = burn it, or put it out in the local council disposal!!
It will regrow anywhere from the teeny weeniest piece.
Oh and if you didnt get all the roots up, it will come back again!!

    Horrible stuff!

Thanks. I was wondering if I could use it as a mulch or something, but if it'll take root I'll just burn it. That's a good autumnal thing to do.

Use the woodash on your brassicas bed, in lieu of lime, it will do the same for pH and the potassium might help your PSB, cauli's, etc.

But if there are any bits of stem attached they could.

My ivy is the variegated type. I havent cut it out yet I cut it down to the height I want. Then I chose a few "nice" bits and take it to our local florist. She just loves it for wedding bouquets. Just an idea.
