  • Heaven on my doorstep!

An allotment neighbour asked me recently if I'd seen the "place thats selling poultry just down the main road?"
Phoned the guy today and he has...........................................40 yes FORTY different breeds/ varieties including all the ones I've been wanting since my girls were stolen in the summer. And he's only 6 miles away!
Dare I take another chance? I SO want to but I'd be devastated if they were stolen again.
Maybe just a couple and they could hide in with the ex-batts!
I'll think about it over Christmas as he's starting incubating mid-January so maybe I'll just go and have a look........................................................... honestly just a little tiny peep!

Look but don't touch. Touch but don't cuddle. Cuddle but don't ask price. Ask price but don't buy. Awww flipping 'eck, just let them jump into the boot!

sue - if he has any gold laced cohins you had best get out of the way as jen will be there in a shot! she is after them desperatley and as its her birthday next week and the federation show at stafford i might just take her along on sale day........

seriously though, could you drop me a line with teh types of birds he has as i am always looking for good quality unrelated lines to bring in to the flocks

You must take another chance - don't let people bully you into not having what you want!

I have had all my chooks slaughtered (I think by a 2 legged creature - not 4) and I took another chance and it hasn't happened again...... 4 legged creatures don't carry around bolt cutters!

Go for it and do as you please... :-)

It's not that I haven't got any chooks - the last lot stolen were the new pure-breds I'd bought 10 days earlier. They left the ex-batts and hybrids even though they broke into their coop. I'm pretty sure I know who was responsible but unfortunately have no proof and cannot stop this person getting on the allotment site. Hence the need to be able to mix them in with ex-batts etc!

How awful to think that you possibly know the person. Stealing things is bad, but stealing birds and animals which are so much more than possessions is ghastly.

Absolutely Eco-chic! And this summer was the SECOND time I'd had them stolen! The first time we blamed some vagrants living in the NT woods nearby for food but the 2nd lot were only 17 weeks so had no flesh on them - the bigger girls were left!
