  • opinions needed on chicken house buying please! with pics

    hi all

just wanted your opinions on two chicken coops i am trying to decide on. the one with the little run (this wouldnt be used to keep them in, door would be open the whole time as they free range) my husband likes the idea of as when they are locked away he thinks extra security against fox etc.

i love the second one for appearance and quality but has no run. opinions would be very much appreciated. many thanks

The white and blue one. Less timber to treat against red mite etc. and looks a bit sturdier and less fussy. Tbh I wouldn't think having a run attached would make much difference to a determined fox.

Only advantage to having a permanent run would be if you shut them in THAT rather than in the house, and like RH I can't see any 'as sold' one being secure against foxes.
If the blue-and-white one is plastic, it will be even more important to ventilate well for condensation control, and redmite will still get in any crevices, but might well be easier to tackle!
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

How do they get in to the run from the house? Is there yet another door? I like the look of the white one, very pretty? How do they compare sizewise? Perching length etc?

yes i think that there is yet another door! comparing the living area in both i think that the blue and white one is slightly bigger. it is also more expensive than the other one! the only thing is i have a house with fixed run attached at the moment and they do like going in there just to shelter and stand sometimes thats why im tempted with the one with the run.
