planting out Calendula

I put my calendula seedlings in the soil today, was it a mistake
Temperatures are rising and nights are about 5C for the coldest...The plants are two leaves and I heard calendula is pretty tough but I have a doubt all of a sudden...?

They are pretty tough - as long as you have hardened them off (so they are acclimatised to conditions outside). Should you lose them, just sow some more seed in situ - you'll probably have calendulas for ever in the patch.

Ohh, now, a 'little bird' was telling me to grow calendula at the weekend ... I didnt realise they were that hardy?

They can even over-winter Sue -some of mine have. And they self seed beautifully.

So would they be okay to sow in situ now or is that a bit TOO hardy!? I'm runmning out of space on the windowsills and in the cold frame!

with this nice weather forecast and your suggestions I think it was definitely a good idea!
by the way, they grew nicely in my cold frame and since the end of March, of a light construction its just a couple of degree hotter in it and they had no problem at all ... so I think it might be ok to sow straight outside from now.
