honeysuckle or jasmine

hi i was wondering which one would be best to go in a trellis planter in my front garden any advice would be gratefuly recieved

One thing to remember about Honeysuckle is that cats love it so if you don't want cats in your garden then don't plant it.

I'd also be thinking about how much greenery you want in the winter.
Honeysuckles have their beautiful, scented flowers and by winter are twigs with a few leaves.
Huge choice of colour/size of flowers.
I did have an evergreen honeysucke- but the flowers are teeney and no smell

Jasmine- winter or summer flowering- you have a choice. Not as dramatic with the flowers- but greener all year.Flowers are yellow or purple/red if I recall.

Can you plant one of each? to cover all seasons?

Honeysuckle needs it's roots covered too so they don't bake in the heat. How exposed is the site?

That's about my limit of knowlege with those 2 plants

The winter jasmine is beautiful with lots of yellow flowers.
The summer jasmine is very hard to control as it grows really quickly and has white flowers.
Honeysuckle is also a rapid grower but the perfume from the flowers is lovely.
Like Nicos said, why not plant one of each.

Personally, I'd go with Honeysuckle every time. Or, why not a climbing Rose and a Clematis, get two that flower at different times, to extend the interest.

I don't like Jasmine! But probably because I have several that I'm trying to 'tame' in various gardens!

i may well get 1 of each good excuse to do so lol i thought a bout a rose my little boy loves smelling all the different flowers

I grow the winter flowering honeysuckle shrub near my front door
and the cream flowers smell lovely during the winter months and the
first bees really appreciate it.
The birds also eat the red berries that form in the autumn.
During the summer I have a red clematis and the usual
honeysuckle growing through it. Thus I get some colour and scent most of
the year.

When we moved in our porch had a trellis with honeysuckle and winter jasmine. The honeysuckle can get a bit rampant but it's easy to keep in check and I find giving it a mulch helps keep it healthy. The winter jasmine is very good for providing greenery on the bare honeysuckle over winter and providing delicate early colour so it's a combination I'd recommend.

I didn't know honeysuckle attracted cats but then my whole garden seems to attract the neighbourhood cats
