  • Late Morning, early afternoon everyone.

    Glad to see the back of last week, on bank holiday Monday I was playing with grandkids when searing chest pain struck, was convinced I was having a cardiac arrest. Anyway after a 4 days in hospital it was discovered that the pain was due an infection in the lining of my left lung. After being hooked up to a drip for my stay thinks have settled down but been told nothing strenuous for a month. Also learnt that you can take paracetamol and ibrufefen ( however you spell it?) at the same time.

    Good to be back

    • Good to have you back too, GL. Worrying time. Pity you weren't in the next bed to Martin, you could have chatted gardening and compared your Seedlings
      Take it easy, both of you, or I'll get my pointy stick out

        Scarey GL, take it easy and let everyone spoil you. If you are needing to take both paracetamol & ibruprofen it's a good idea to take with a two hour interval - you don't then get the tail off when the pain killer starts to wear off just before the end of the 4 hours, it spread evenly throughout the day. Hope you feel better soon

        • OK I've done my seed sowing for the day. Mrs H is going to drag me down the garden centre now for a mosey around. I wonder if I'll buy anything ...

          • GL very slow pottering thats what you need with no lifting, shoving, dragging etc. I personally favour a potter through a book or a potter through the TV channels.

            Martin - is a duck's rear end water tight? Theirs your answer as to whether you will but someting. The question is what and how many.

            I've made a decision today - at the end of the year and if we still live here and if the collasped drains and subsidence has been sorted - the grass is GOING (well at least a third of it). It will be replaced by the image I have in my brain cell of my perfect raised bed growing area.

            I strimmed and mowed today, ot was a bit tall as it has not been done for 4 weeks. I had to stop as the cricked club have their first match today and as they are only the other side of the hedge they could'nt hear themselves think because of our very, very very loud, clonky mower. The umpire was very nice when he asked for a bit of quiet.

            • Good afternoon. I've just got back from the garden centre. Bought myself a new pepper plant. Called snack pepper. They only produce little peppers. I wonder if I could save the seeds from these and grow it again next year? I cannot seem to find any information on the web.

                    • Afternoon we're been out watching a m/bike display lots of scary stunts but good to watch. Then back home to re-pot stuff just as the rain started.

                      Sounds like you're starting to pick up Martin so enjoy your garden centre outing and GL sorry to hear you've been in hospital so take care.

                      • Evening All. My lodger is still here. With the building work going on at my daughter's house, he is better off here. They have already knocked down three interior walls and the sheer drop from the newly installed patio door is about 8 feet. I don't know how my DD is going to cope for the next three to four weeks. All weekend, due to visitors, I have only managed to re-sow runner beans (the ones that did make it through were decimated by snails) and potted on two toms. The snails also found my beautiful peas in the stayput, so it looks like I'll have to direct sow after all. Hope you've all had a good weekend :}

                            • Morning All, looks like being a beautiful day. I have to compost loads of tomato plants tonight so have got to muster up nerves of steel and take a brave pill. I might just sink some of them into the ground to see what happens. Have a good day
