Just spent two hours weeding the onion and garlic bed at my grandson's school - I had 5 little helpers plus an eco teacher - they were great but she needs a bit of training.Endeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

Evening all
Had a lovely day out Christmas shopping - yes I mentioned the C word again!!! I'm sure I'll mention it many more times before the big day as well. Hope I don't get any pointy sticks poked at me or get put on the naughty step!
Think all the shopping is just about done so need to think about wrapping soon I guess.
Enjoying a restful evening now with a nice cuppa while planning out what to cook tomorrowLOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

We are seriously talking about changing Christmas completely this year and doing a kind of (probably not so) secret santa affair where we all buy one person one present and that's it. We'd spend the run up to Christmas watching cheesy films instead of being stressed going round busy shops buying stuff that may not even be liked/get used with money we don't have.
It was my daughter who suggested it and although my immediate reaction was against it (as a Mum who always wants to give the 'kids' the world), I have to say the idea is growing on me. Imagine how easy Christmas would be.

^^^ Its much easier if you ignore it completely - as I do I think presents should be spontaneous things, at any time during the year, not compulsory gifts on one day.
Bah Humbug and its not even December yet
Evening All, having got that off my chest, let me say what a super day it has been for mid November. A morning in the garden in the sun. OK it rained later but I was tired by then so I could stop without a conscience.
Hope you've all had a good day, doing whatever makes you happy - even shopping

Got a phone call the little darlings have been on the allotment, broken into sheds and been on the nick again, Brother -In-Law and I went down to appraise the damage and losses, looks like I was OK but they broke into his shed and stole the small blowtorch he uses to melt holes in his weed membrane. I have sent emails to all plot holders that have registered and the site rep put a notice on the Allotment Facebook group.

Has anyone else seen the Amazon Prime advert where the poor dog stays in the background because the baby is scared of him? The owners buy him a lion mane (you need to watch the ad ) and then the baby is ok with him. I feel soooo sorry for the dog. I'm clearly over my 'maternal' stage in life.
@Cadalot - so sorry to hear that, it's always a problem for allotment holders isn't it?! Bored teenagers?
